Chairperson of the Academic Committee of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (since 2016).

Chairperson of the Academic Committee and Director of the Department of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (2009-2012).

He has taught Economic Law, Commercial Law, Company Law, Banking Law, General Theory of Civil Law I, Real Estate Law (in the Honour’s Degree course); Civil and Commercial Contracts Law, International Contracts (on the Master’s course); Autonomy and Legal Negotiability (on the PhD course); Banking and Financial Supervision (in the Postgraduate Course in Financial Markets at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon).

He has given talks (in Portugal and abroad) and published numerous university articles, in books and specialized journals, in the areas of Economic Law, Banking Law and Real Estate Law.

Specialist Lawyer in Financial Law, a title awarded by the Portuguese Bar Association. Legal Consultant and Lawyer, since 1976.
Member/Arbitrator of arbitral tribunals.

He has headed the legal services for legal consultation and litigation for important public institutions (IAPMEI e Banco de Portugal); has coordinated working groups which have drawn up high-level legal acts in the economic and financial field and, in particular, has chaired a European Union Council Working Party.

He has been a consultant for a Confederation of great national importance (CIP) and numerous industrial and commercial companies.

He has chaired the General Assembly and the Advisory Board of the Association of Pension Fund Management Companies.

National Rapporteur for the International Academy of Comparative Law (2010).

Representative, in Portugal, of the European Association of Banking and Financial Law (AEDBF) and national correspondent for the EUREDIA Magazine.
